El 22 de abril celebramos el Día Mundial de la Tierra y eso conlleva un rayo de esperanza para este planeta en la que los humanos tenemos que tener un compromiso serio e importante para defender este globo que pide a gritos un pacto con cada uno de los rincones en los que vivimos para que nos debemos cuenta que esa es la única tarjeta a la esperanza.
El Día de la Tierra se estableció hace 51 años, cuando miles de personas en Estados Unidos, unieron sus voces para exigir aire y agua limpios. En 1990 el Día de la Tierra se hizo global cuando doscientos millones de personas en 141 países alzaron su voz al unísono para hablar de problemas ambientales.
Aplaudimos a todas esas voces que vinieron antes y a quienes actúan por la naturaleza hoy.
El secretario General de la Unesco, Antonio Guterres, “En este Día de la Tierra, sumen sus voces a la mía para exigir un futuro sano y resiliente para las personas y para el planeta”. Ha llegado el momento que el compromiso para defender la tierra no sea una moda.
Cada año los humanos tenemos que tener un rayo de esperanza, con el sueño de que el mundo puede ser mejor, aquel discurso que pronuncio en 1855 el gran jefe indio Seattle tiene un valor incalculable en estos momentos “la tierra es nuestra madre y debemos cuidarla”.
La escuela es un oasis de oportunidad de poder ver un futuro mejor, si hacemos posible que la educación ambiental forme parte de forma diaria de nuestro que hacer educativo para conseguir generaciones que tengan “un estilo de vida” acorde con nuestro ecosistema.
La Madre Tierra claramente nos pide que actuemos. Los océanos se llenan de plásticos y se vuelven más ácidos. El calor extremo, los incendios forestales y las inundaciones, así como una temporada de huracanes en el Atlántico que ha batido récords, han afectado a millones de personas. Ahora nos enfrentamos al COVID -19, una pandemia sanitaria mundial con una fuerte relación con la salud de nuestro ecosistema. A pesar de todo colgamos una bandera a la “esperanza”; es posible salvar el planeta, todo depende de nosotros.
